Qualification Description

​

This qualification reflects the role of hairdressers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients. They use discretion and judgement to provide client services and take responsibility for the outcomes of their own work.

Students will learn about various hairdressing aspects such as cutting, foiling, straightening while learning how to coordinate in a salon team. You will undertake tasks performed in real hairdressing salons as well as our simulated salon environment under the direct supervision of our trainers.

 

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a hairdresser in any industry environment, usually a salon.

There are no pre-requisites for this qualification.

Course Structure

​28 units must be completed:

• 21 core units

• 7 electives consisting of

• all 3 units from Group A or all 3 units from Group B

• 4 units from Group C.

SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing is delivered as face to face delivery in a classroom for practical training in real/simulated salon and the theory classes are held via Real time virtual remote via Zoom/Ms Teams. Assessment methods allow for the gathering of sufficient quality evidence about the student’s performance. Assessment method includes Written Questions and Answers, Practical Observations and Portfolios.

Delivery Mode

SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing is delivered as face-to-face delivery in a salon environment for practical work and for theory classes held via Real time virtual remote

 

Holiday Period

There is no training and assessment scheduled during the Public and school holiday periods.

On Completion of Course​

Students completing all assessment requirements will be awarded SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing.

​​

On Partial Completion of Course​

Students completing assessment requirements for part of SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing, will be awarded a statement of attainment indicating which modules or units of competency they have completed.  Awards will not be made to students who have not met all their financial commitments to Fran capelli Academy.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course, students must successfully complete Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment and pre-training interview. The student must be 18 years of age or over.

There are no formal prerequisites required to enter the Certificate III in Hairdressing.

Course Duration

The course duration non-apprentice is 52 weeks (excluding holidays).

The requirement of the program is to attend Fran Capelli Academy 2 day per week.

Assessment Arrangements

As this is a competency-based program, assessment continues throughout the program until the participant either achieves competency in the assessment tasks or a further training need is identified and addressed.

• Students are expected to complete the written questionnaire section of the assessments in their own time and submit to the trainer by the due date.

• The Trainer will explain the requirements for the assessment as well as the way they are being assessed.

• The assessment requirements are documented on the front-cover sheet of each unit. Assessment methods are written questions, direct observation, portfolios. These will be used to assess students' competency. The Trainer and Assessor, assess students' written work they submit and observe the students perform a range of assessment practical tasks.

 

The following assessment methods are used for some or all units, please refer to the Delivery Sequence and Assessment Methods section of this Training & Assessment Strategy for details of specific units and tasks.

• Written – this is a written test. It is the responsibility of each assessor to assess students’ needs and make whatever reasonable adjustments are practicable to maximise a students’ opportunity to demonstrate their competence.

• Direct observation – this assessment method is assessed in a simulated salon setup for the purpose of skill assessment (Practical Work) that provides service to paying members of the public. Students’ practical skills are observed for each unit of competency.

• Portfolio – Students will need to research from the internet, hair magazines, brochures, hair retail products, salon products, complete pre-service analysis forms and other relevant documents, etc. to complete their portfolio requirements.

Course Outcome

After successful completion of SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing, students can find employment as a qualified hairdresser.
